Caterpillar Inc.

Caterpillar Inc. formed in 1925 through the merger of Holt Manufacturing and C.L. Best Tractor, and it moved its headquarters to Irving, Texas, in 2022. The company calls itself the world’s largest construction equipment maker. It builds dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, haul trucks, diesel and gas engines and power generation equipment, and sells mostly through independent dealers in close to 200 countries, backed by its own financing and insurance arms. Caterpillar reported about 118,000 employees and $67.6 billion in revenue for 2025. In late September 2026 it agreed to buy Fabick Cat, a 37-location dealer based in Fenton, Missouri, taking direct ownership of part of its own dealer network.
