As leading commercial asphalt contractors in Melbourne, we handle projects of all sizes with precision, expertise & care. Our team is known for delivering high-quality asphalt services to government agencies, local councils, schools, private businesses, and major construction companies—along with affordable solutions for residential properties
We provide customised services and scalable solutions across a wide range of sectors including:
– Roadways and Highways
 – Commercial Properties
 – Local and State Government Projects
 – Asphalt driveways to residential customers at highly competitive & affordable rates.

Nelson Asphalting works commercial first and residential second, and the client list explains the emphasis: state and local government bodies, councils, schools, private businesses and major construction companies, with residential driveways offered at competitive rates alongside.

The sector breakdown on its own site is more specific than the general listing suggests. Roadways and highways are surfaced to handle high traffic volumes and demanding conditions. Commercial property work covers car parks and industrial estates. Local and state government projects cover upgrades, repairs and new asphalt infrastructure delivered with councils. Rail industry work, including train and tramline surfacing, sits as its own category, which is unusual for a contractor of this size and requires working to different specifications and access constraints than road work.

Compliance is documented rather than asserted. The company runs an Integrated Management System covering three core standards. Quality is held to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008, the Civil Construction Management Codes and the VicRoads QA Specification. Occupational health and safety is held to AS 4801:2001, the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, the OHS Regulations 2007 and VicRoads OH&S specifications. Environmental management is held to AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004, the VicRoads Environmental Policy Specification and the relevant EPA requirements. For council and government tenders in Victoria, that documented alignment is usually the threshold question before price is discussed.

The operating footprint runs throughout Melbourne and Victoria from a base at Yarra Junction, in the Yarra Valley east of the city. The firm attributes its results to cutting-edge asphalt technology and equipment paired with an emphasis on turning up and conducting works in a professional and polite manner, which reads less like a slogan than a note about crews working on live council sites and occupied commercial properties.
