Herc Rentals

Herc Rentals is a North American equipment rental company headquartered in Bonita Springs, Florida, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It rents aerial work platforms, earthmoving and material handling equipment, power generation, climate control and specialty fleet across a branch network in the United States and Canada, and runs specialty service lines under its ProSolutions and ProContractor offerings. The company reported second quarter 2026 total revenue of $1.2 billion, up 20 percent, with rental revenue up 23 percent following its acquisition of H&E Equipment Services, and swung to a $19 million net profit from a $35 million loss a year earlier. It attributes part of the growth to mega project demand.

More than 450 locations across North America underpin the branch model, and the fleet is organised by problem rather than by machine type. Alongside the expected earthmoving and aerial categories, Herc runs distinct lines in cooling, heating and air quality, power generation, lighting, water removal and diversion, vacuums and dust control, and warehousing and distribution solutions.

The climate control range is unusually deep for a general rental house. It runs from one-ton portable air conditioners with heat on 120 volts, through 12-ton units on 460-volt three phase, up to 70-ton hybrid air conditioners with 136 kW of heat and 200-ton air-cooled chillers with pump. That is process and temporary-facility cooling, not site comfort. Power and lighting follow the same pattern with towable generators and engine-driven LED light towers, and the emergency response offering bundles power, heating, cooling, water removal and drying together.

Industry verticals are named rather than implied: utilities, renewable energy, automotive production and services, facilities and property management, entertainment through Herc Entertainment Services, and warehousing and distribution. The utility line is framed around both day-to-day operations and emergency response, and the renewable energy team is described as available 24/7.

Three programmes sit around the rental transaction. Herc Plus offers national elite support for multi-site accounts. The Rental Protection Plan covers theft and damage. Safety training courses, including ProControl training, are run for operators, managers and supervisors on an enrolment basis. Fleet and telematics tooling covers alerts, analytics and reporting, and billing and payments.

Credit is handled through an application process rather than at the counter, and the company also runs a used equipment sales channel with its own inventory. The published blog leans practical, with pieces such as guidance on running a skid steer through winter conditions, which is a fair signal of who the audience is.
