Press Mechanical Contractors

Press Mechanical Contractors is a commercial mechanical subcontractor based in Manassas, Virginia, serving the Washington DC metropolitan area. The firm installs and services HVAC, plumbing and process piping systems on commercial, institutional and light industrial projects across Northern Virginia, the District and Maryland. It holds memberships in ABC Metro Washington, ABC Virginia, the Washington Building Congress, the American Subcontractor Association of Metro Washington and ASA Baltimore, and its leadership has been active in ASA’s national work on subcontractor payment terms and retainage reform. Martin Press, the firm’s founder and president, serves as secretary and treasurer of the American Subcontractor Association.

The origin is unusually literal. In 2010, brothers Sam and John went into business together fixing air conditioners for friends and family members, and the company traces its hallmark of excellence to that year. Martin Press now leads a team of project managers, engineers, estimators, service technicians and installers, bringing thirty years of industry experience to it, and the firm holds licences in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC covering heating, air conditioning and plumbing.

The business splits into two halves that operate differently. Construction service handles installed work on new build and fit-out. The service side runs HVAC service, plumbing service, preventative maintenance, residential work and a 24/7 emergency response line, reached at 703.420.8263 separately from the main office number of 703.832.9111. A sister operation, Press Services, covers utility services.

The market list is where the DC-region positioning becomes concrete. Published work spans Amazon Fresh grocery stores, Lifetime Fitness gyms and health centres, Ralph Lauren retail stores, the 6th District Police Station among police and fire stations, and Cranes Spanish Kaiseki among restaurants. Those are five quite different mechanical problems: refrigeration-heavy grocery, high-load fitness ventilation, tightly controlled retail environments, essential-services buildings that cannot go offline, and kitchen exhaust and make-up air. A subcontractor carrying all five is doing more than repeating one system type.

Company values are stated as acting with intention and taking full ownership of role and responsibilities, phrased as walking the walk rather than talking the talk. The team page also carries individual histories, including a member who served more than eight years on active duty in the Army as a 92Y unit supply specialist before an honourable discharge.

The office is at 6933 Gateway Court in Manassas, Virginia, and the firm describes its territory simply as the DC metropolitan region.
