Arcosa, Inc.

Arcosa is a Dallas-based manufacturer and supplier of infrastructure-related products, spun off from Trinity Industries and listed on the NYSE in November 2018, though its operating businesses go back decades further. The company employs roughly 6,390 people and reports in two segments. Construction Products covers natural and recycled aggregates plus specialty materials and trench shoring and shielding. Engineered Structures covers utility and telecom structures, traffic and lighting structures, and inland barges. Growth has come largely through acquisition, including Cherry Industries, ACG Materials and Stavola. On September 4, 2026 Arcosa stockholders approved an all-cash acquisition by CRH plc at $150 per share, a transaction valued at roughly $8.5 billion under the June 2026 merger agreement, with closing expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Arcosa’s own description of its strategy is more revealing than its product list. The company positions itself as a provider of infrastructure-related products and solutions with leading brands serving construction and engineered structure markets, and says its individual businesses built their reputations for quality, service and operational excellence over decades. The stated growth model is organic expansion paired with disciplined acquisition, aimed deliberately at the fragmented nature of many of the industries it operates in. That fragmentation thesis explains a great deal about how the company has been assembled.

Leadership is drawn heavily from Trinity Industries, which is unsurprising given the separation. Antonio Carrillo serves as president and chief executive and sits on the board. From April to November 2018 he was senior vice president and group president of Trinity’s Construction, Energy, Marine and Components businesses. Before that, from 2012 to February 2018, he was chief executive of Orbia Advance Corporation, formerly Mexichem, a specialty chemicals and construction materials company that became construction-materials centric under his tenure. He had earlier spent sixteen years at Trinity, including as senior vice president and group president of the Energy Equipment Group with responsibility for Mexican operations, and served on Trinity’s board from 2014 to November 2018 and on the board of Dr Pepper Snapple Group from 2015 to 2018. He is currently a director of NRG Energy.

Reid S. Essl is a group president with responsibility for the Natural and Recycled Aggregates, Specialty Materials and Asphalt businesses. He was president of Trinity Construction Materials from 2016 until November 2018 and group chief financial officer of the Trinity Construction, Energy, Marine and Components businesses from 2013 to 2016, across fourteen years at Trinity that also covered financial, strategic planning and business development roles.

The pattern across both biographies is the same: operators who ran these business lines inside a larger diversified manufacturer before they were separated out to stand on their own.
