The Chimney Sweep

At The Chimney Sweep, we take pride in safeguarding your home and family from the dangers of chimney fires. As a family-owned business owned by a retired Battalion Chief from the Fire Department, we understand the importance of maintaining your chimney. We’ve witnessed the devastation that a chimney fire can cause, so we are deeply committed to ensuring every chimney we service is in optimal condition.

The Chimney Sweep works out of 4710 Kernersville Road, and its legacy dates back to 1980. Lee Knight owns the company and runs the field side; his wife Renee manages the office.

The work splits across four service lines rather than one. Chimney work covers sweeping for fireplaces, wood stoves and furnaces, Level 1 and Level 2 inspections, relining and liner replacement, cap and chase cover installation, repointing, waterproofing, and water diagnostics for leaks. Separately, the crew handles gas fireplace cleaning, inspection and repair; wood stove work including Class A stove installation; and dryer vent cleaning. High-definition video scanning is used to document the interior of a flue rather than relying on what can be seen from the firebox.

Coverage runs well beyond Kernersville. In North Carolina the company lists Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Jamestown, Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Stokesdale, Burlington, Elon, Clemmons, Bermuda Run, Mocksville, Lexington, Thomasville, Reidsville, Eden, Madison, Mayodan, Stoneville, Walnut Cove, Lawsonville and Mt. Airy. It also crosses the state line into Galax and Hillsville, Virginia. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the phone line is 336-993-8999.

One practical note before booking

The company has published a warning that another operator has been falsely claiming to be subcontracted by The Chimney Sweep. It does not subcontract any services to third parties. Its technicians arrive in marked vehicles carrying the company name and wear gray uniforms printed with both the company name and the individual technician’s name. Anyone unsure about who has turned up is asked to call the office directly and verify before handing over any information.

The site also carries a project gallery and a blog covering subjects like damper replacement and delayed chimney leak repair, which is a reasonable way to see the kind of masonry and liner conditions the crew runs into across Piedmont Triad housing stock before you call.
