Auld & White Constructors, LLC

Auld & White Constructors has built in Northeast Florida since 1987 and works throughout the Southeast, with about 170 employees — more than a quarter of whom have been with the company over a decade. The firm delivers preconstruction, construction management, general contracting and design-build, with a strong healthcare practice alongside interiors, special projects, tenant improvements and ongoing work-order programs. It was the general contractor on the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s workforce education center at 4932 Sunbeam Road in Jacksonville, a $7.5 million renovation converting a former call center into 11 classrooms and four hands-on trade labs; the project won an ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle Award in August 2026 and opened days before 550 apprentices started class. The legal entity is a Delaware LLC registered and active in Florida.

Steve Auld joined Ed White Constructors in 1987 to form the company, and the first major job followed in 1988: Marywood Retreat & Conference Center in St. Johns, Florida. The growth markers on the firm’s own timeline are headcounts and project counts. Fifty employees by 1991, seventy by 1996, one hundred by 2000, one hundred twenty-five by 2018. The hundredth completed project came in 1992 for Vistakon, the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, and the five hundredth in 2004 with the Gate River Club in downtown Jacksonville. The services page now puts the workforce above 190 and the company at 38-plus years in business.

Divisions were added as demand appeared rather than all at once. Healthcare came in 1993 after the first hospital-sector win and now runs more than 20 people working on nothing else. Interiors arrived in 2002 and handles tenant improvement and renovation work typically under $1 million; the Jacksonville Business Journal ranked AWC the city’s number one tenant improvement contractor in 2016, and the firm has held a top-five spot there for more than twenty years. A public sector division opened in 2018 and a drywall division in 2019, the latter specifically to keep schedule and quality control in-house. Work order and on-call programs run for clients including CitiGroup, Fanatics and Gate Petroleum.

The sustainability track is dated too. The firm joined the U.S. Green Building Council in 2007 and put LEED credentials on its project management staff, then delivered its first LEED-certified project in 2010, Community First Credit Union at Beach and Hodges. It became a National Center for Construction Education and Research accredited assessment center in 2018. Earlier recognition includes a first ABC Award of Excellence (Eagle) in 1999 and national ABC recognition in 2006 for the Beaches Historical Society project in Jacksonville Beach, plus three Eagle Awards in a single year for projects including the Sawgrass Country Club Clubhouse and Baptist Health Jacksonville’s South Campus. The Jacksonville Business Journal named AWC one of the city’s Best Places to Work in the large-business category in 2019 and again in 2020.

A 2014 succession plan transferred executive responsibility from then-president Ed White and senior vice president Steve Auld to the next generation of leadership. Nathaniel T. Marty is chief executive officer and Billy-Dale Tyson chief operating officer, with Buck Smoak on business development, Jared Vincent on estimating and Courtney Rutgens on human resources. The company built and moved into the Southpoint business park in 1996 and is at 4168 Southpoint Parkway, Suite 101, Jacksonville, Florida 32216.
