Dusty Robotics is a construction technology company based in Mountain View, California, founded in 2018. It builds the FieldPrinter, a mobile robot that prints full building layout directly onto the slab from the BIM model, replacing manual chalk-line layout for wall framing, MEP penetrations and other trades. The product is sold on layout accuracy and rework reduction rather than labor substitution, which is where contractor demand has actually concentrated. In BuiltWorlds’ 2026 Annual Equipment and Robotics Benchmarking Report, Dusty was the most-piloted robotics vendor among surveyed general and specialty contractors, in a year when reported jobsite robotics use rose from 29 percent to 79 percent.
The specification sheet is where Dusty Robotics makes its argument. One operator running a FieldPrinter covers 10,000 to 15,000 square feet of layout per day, which the company puts at roughly ten times manual pace. Accuracy is stated at up to 1/16 of an inch, printed at 600 DPI, and the machine will print as close as 1-3/4 inches from an obstacle, the kind of edge case that decides whether a robot handles a whole floor or just the open areas.
The product has broadened past the robot itself. Dusty now sells the FieldPrint Platform, positioned as a full model-to-field workflow rather than a printing device. Native Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD integrations let coordination happen in one place, multiple trades’ layouts print in a single pass, and revisions can be verified as having actually reached the floor. That last point is the quiet one: the company’s pitch is less about printing lines than about making sure the version built matches the version approved, and giving owners a look at the complete layout before construction starts.
Customer results are published rather than implied. Jenco reported $80,000 in direct savings on a facility using multi-trade layout, and framed the gain as freed labor it could redeploy onto additional work. Truebeck used the system on a life sciences facility, and its Senior Construction Tech Innovation Engineer, Andrea Hernando, described catching layout point conflicts in CAD before anyone marked the slab.
