Master in Design

Master in Design (https://www.midremodeling.com) is the premier home remodeling company that specializes in kitchens, bathrooms, and roofing. Our personal touch on both the quality of the work and the eye for design is what makes our kitchens, bathrooms, and roofing special. We are like an interior designer with a hammer!

The firm is a family-owned design-build outfit founded in Tarzana in 2012, working out of 6011 Reseda Blvd, Suite 1, and it states more than 200 completed projects across the San Fernando Valley since. The California license is CSLB #979219.

Staffing is structured in a way that affects scheduling. Project managers, lead and finish carpenters, painters and laborers are W-2 employees rather than day labor; electrical, plumbing and HVAC go to long-standing trade partners. Proposals are itemized line by line, with cabinets, tile and labor priced separately, and change orders are documented and approved in writing before work proceeds.

Six phases structure the job: Discovery, Design and Engineering, Permitting, Construction, Final Inspections and Punch List, then Warranty and Follow-Up. Typical durations are published rather than left vague. Discovery runs about a week, design and engineering four weeks, permitting two to six weeks depending on LADBS volume, and construction six to sixteen weeks depending on scope. A preliminary scope summary and rough budget range arrive within three to five business days of the first home visit at no charge.

The firm prepares and submits permit drawings to LADBS itself, responds to plan-check comments and handles resubmissions, and nothing starts on site until the permit card is posted. During construction, weekly reports include photographs of concealed work: waterproofing, electrical rough-in, blocking for grab bars and TV mounts, and insulation coverage. At the end, a city inspector signs off, then the client walks the space with blue tape, usually one to three days of punch list. Labor carries a one-year workmanship warranty.

Beyond kitchens and baths, the service list runs to ADUs, room additions, windows and doors, backyard remodeling and front facade work, across Encino, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Van Nuys and Reseda. Office hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
