Moorefield Construction, Inc.

Moorefield Construction is a California general contractor with close to 70 years of work across hospitality, entertainment, retail and institutional buildings on the West Coast. The firm’s project history includes renovations at the Athletics’ ballpark and Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College, along with a long run of hotel, restaurant and commercial work. Moorefield was named general contractor in April 2026 for Sacramento Republic FC’s 20,000-seat stadium in the downtown Railyards, the largest outdoor sports and entertainment venue planned for the region. That project sits on a 31-acre former Southern Pacific maintenance yard, with site infrastructure running ahead of vertical construction and delivery targeted for 2028.

The company traces back to a Los Angeles framing outfit that Harold Moorefield ran with his brother, father and brother-in-law in the early 1950s. In 1957 Harold struck out on his own and pointed the business toward general construction on larger jobs, while keeping framing and concrete work in house on retail, commercial and industrial projects.

Leadership passed to Ann Moorefield after Harold died in 1982. She ran the firm for decades in an industry with few women at the top and collected recognition along the way, including Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, a Top 500 Working Woman listing and appearances on ENR’s rankings. Their sons, Mike, Larry and Hal, grew up around the work and now make up the second generation running it.

Three principals, three offices

Every job is assigned to one of the three principals, so clients deal directly with an owner rather than a chain of corporate approvals. The firm points to that arrangement as the reason it can make decisions fast.

The corporate office sits at 600 N Tustin Avenue in Santa Ana. A Sacramento office opened in 1990 at 4080 Truxel Road to serve the northern part of the state, and a third office operates on South Rancho Drive in Las Vegas.

Four delivery methods are on offer: preconstruction, design-build, general contracting and construction management. The project portfolio is organised by building type rather than by geography, spanning entertainment and themed entertainment, fitness centers, gaming, grocery, hospitality, industrial, medical centers, retail, restaurants and travel centers.

Moorefield has been family-owned since 1957, and it publishes prequalification forms on its site for parties starting the vetting process.
