Steinberg Hart

Steinberg Hart is an architecture, planning, and interior design firm with roots going back to 1953 and studios across California. The practice works in housing, higher education, workplace, and civic projects, with a strong line in campus and student-housing design. Steinberg Hart is the architect for Cal Poly’s student housing program in San Luis Obispo, the largest modular housing build in the country, where the firm’s design has to work within the constraints of factory-built, stackable modules. The firm blends traditional design services with the technical detailing that offsite construction demands, a skill set that’s become more valuable as owners push modular at scale.

Steinberg Hart is a full-service architecture and planning firm with roots going back roughly 70 years, founded by Goodwin Steinberg and now led as Steinberg Hart. Its Los Angeles studio sits at 818 West 7th Street, one of eight offices spanning Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, New York, Austin, Denver, and Shanghai.

The firm works across education, residential, arts, civic, hospitality, and commercial office projects, pairing architecture with urban planning, interior design, and sustainability expertise. Recent projects include the Career Education Complex at San José City College, Ellore Senior Living in Santa Clara, the Crested Butte Center for the Arts in Colorado, and the Habitat live-work campus in Los Angeles, where Steinberg Hart serves as Architect of Record.
