Interactive Design Architects

Interactive Design Architects, known as IDEA, is a Chicago architecture firm founded in 1992 and led by president Dina Griffin. The practice designs museums, libraries, academic buildings, civic structures, and facade renovations, with deep roots on Chicago’s South Side. IDEA served as associate architect to Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects on the Obama Presidential Center, handling construction administration, regulatory compliance, and community engagement through the project’s completion in 2026. The firm is one of the more prominent Black-led design practices in the Midwest and focuses much of its work on public and cultural institutions.
