Andersen Construction has been building in the Pacific Northwest since 1950. The Portland, Oregon firm works as a general contractor and construction manager across healthcare, higher education, commercial, and multifamily projects, with offices in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. It’s known for complex, occupied-site work, the kind where a hospital or campus keeps running while construction goes on next door. Andersen is the general contractor on Kaiser Permanente’s new hospital tower at Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, a seven-story, 615,000-square-foot expansion. The company self-performs concrete and carpentry, which gives it more control over schedule on the fast-track jobs that define its portfolio.

Andersen Construction was started in July 1950 by H.A. “Andy” Andersen, who built the Pacific Northwest’s first concrete tilt-up structure and grew the firm into one of Oregon’s largest general contractors. It remains family-owned and describes itself as the largest family-owned negotiated general contractor in the Portland metro area.

The company runs four full-service offices: Portland, Seattle, Boise and Eugene. Its delivery expertise spans Integrated Project Delivery, CM/GC and GC/CM, Design-Build and Negotiated GMP, supported by in-house preconstruction, BIM, estimating and scheduling.

While healthcare, education and multifamily remain core, Andersen’s portfolio has expanded into mass timber / CLT, life sciences, advanced technology and industrial work, along with seismic renovations and parking structures.
