FSB Architects + Engineers

FSB, formally Frankfurt Short Bruza Associates, is a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm founded in 1945 and headquartered in Oklahoma City, with regional offices in Tulsa, Los Angeles, Mobile and Denver. The firm carries both architecture and engineering in house and has built a long practice in aviation and aerospace facilities, federal and defense work, higher education and civic buildings. FSB is architect and engineer on the first phase of the JetZero manufacturing campus in Greensboro, North Carolina, the 150,000-square-foot North Carolina Composite Center that leads an 8-million-square-foot aerospace buildout. Aviation facility design has been a consistent thread through the firm’s eight decades of work.

What FSB sells is a single contract for work most clients would otherwise split across several firms. Architecture, master planning and interior design sit alongside mechanical, electrical, structural and fire protection engineering, all delivered by an in-house team, and the firm carries projects past design into commissioning, construction administration and owner’s representative services.

Five offices support that reach. Oklahoma City is headquarters, at 5801 Broadway Extension, with a second Oklahoma office in Tulsa on South Lewis. Beyond the state, FSB works from Los Angeles near LAX on West Century Boulevard, from Mobile, Alabama on Saint Francis Street, and from Denver on South Colorado Boulevard. Project locations range considerably further than the office map suggests; the firm describes its work as reaching from Oklahoma to Djibouti.

Seven markets organise the practice: aviation, civic, commercial, education, federal, mission critical, and Native American. The last of those is a genuine specialisation rather than a catch-all category, and comparatively few architecture-engineering firms maintain a dedicated tribal practice. Sustainability is likewise offered as a discrete service line rather than folded into the architecture scope.

The award record is unusually deep for a firm of this scale: more than 260 awards, including five separate Firm of the Year designations from AIA Central Oklahoma.

One structural change is worth flagging for anyone evaluating the firm. FSB has entered a partnership with Colliers Engineering and Design, announced through the firm’s own insights channel. The legal entity remains Frankfurt-Short-Bruza Associates, P.C., which is the name behind the FSB initials.
