Byrne Construction Services is a Texas general contractor founded in 1923, with roots in Fort Worth and a long track record across the state. The firm builds healthcare, higher education, civic and commercial projects, and it’s part of the Turner joint venture building University Health’s $550 million Palo Alto hospital on San Antonio’s South Side. A century in business has given Byrne deep relationships with Texas owners and institutions, the kind of repeat work that steadies a contractor through market cycles. Its portfolio spans hospitals, university buildings and public facilities, much of it concentrated in the San Antonio and Fort Worth markets.

Byrne Construction Services operates from two offices: its North Texas headquarters in Fort Worth (551 E. Berry Street) and a South Texas office in San Antonio. The firm is family-owned and now led by its fifth generation – Matthew Avila as CEO and Paul Avila as COO – after John Avila Jr. acquired the company in 1995 and expanded it statewide.

Byrne describes itself as the largest Fort Worth-based construction firm and the largest Hispanic-owned construction firm in Texas.
