Suniva

Suniva is an American solar-cell manufacturer founded in 2007 and based in Norcross, Georgia. The company makes high-efficiency crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells, the capital-intensive step in the solar supply chain that the U.S. largely ceded to imports. Suniva restarted domestic cell production as trade policy and domestic-content incentives shifted the economics back toward American manufacturing, and it has announced a large solar-cell plant in Laurens County, South Carolina. The firm’s role is upstream of the module assemblers that have multiplied across the country but still buy most of their cells abroad. Rebuilding domestic cell capacity is central to its pitch and to U.S. energy-supply-chain goals.
