Related Midwest is the Chicago arm of national developer Related Companies, focused on large residential and mixed-use projects across the city. The firm is building 400 Lake Shore Drive, a two-tower development on the long-vacant former Chicago Spire site, whose 72-story north tower brings 635 rental homes with a 20% affordable set-aside plus new public park and riverwalk space. Related Midwest has made a specialty of complex, stalled or politically sensitive sites that other developers passed on, pairing market-rate towers with affordable housing and public amenities. It ranks among the most active high-rise residential developers in Chicago.
