Nova Drywall’s work on the Audain Art Museum earned the company the BC Wall and Ceiling Association’s 2016 Best Interior Project award, and that job is representative of the range the firm takes on: gallery-grade interiors at one end, high-rise residential towers at the other.
The company is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a Canadian office at 1680 MacDonald Avenue in Burnaby and U.S. operations at 3195-B Red Hill Avenue in Costa Mesa, California. That two-country structure lets Nova run projects across Greater Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, Western Canada and Southern California from a single executive team.
Nova’s portfolio began in the early 1990s with smaller independent jobs. Founder Daniel Bosa had worked construction alongside his father, and the lesson he carried into the business was that relationships with clients, co-workers and suppliers determine whether a project goes well. Relationship-building is still listed among the company’s core values, and the firm now counts more than fifty completed projects, a majority of them high-rise towers.
Named work includes The Amazing Brentwood, a 28-acre site with five or more towers; Brentwood Towers, the first phase of a Concord Pacific master-planned community; King George Hub, described by the company as an award-winning development; Clarke + Como; Burrard Place, a residential and commercial hub in the downtown core; and River District, a 130-acre master-planned community on the banks of the Fraser River.
Scope on a typical Nova package spans drywall installation and finishing to levels one through five, steel stud framing, and insulation in batt, rigid, semi-rigid and spray-applied forms, including polyurethane and monoglass. Sound and fireproofing detailing is treated as a performance item rather than a finish item, since those assemblies govern both comfort and life safety. Acoustical ceilings and related specialties round out the package.
Safety carries a formal credential: Nova is COR certified, meaning the company has developed and implemented health, safety and injury management systems that meet an audited industry standard. The firm is also a member of the BC Wall and Ceiling Association, the provincial trade body that runs apprenticeship training for the Red Seal Wall and Ceiling Installer trade.
Outside the job sites, Nova sponsors local charities, non-profits and recreational sports teams, and supports employee volunteer time.
