A Bit About Jeddah Tower
Jeddah Tower is a supertall mixed-use skyscraper under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. When completed in 2028, the tower will reach a height of at least 1,000 metres (3,281 feet), surpassing Dubai’s Burj Khalifa to become the world’s tallest building and the first to break the one-kilometre mark.
The project is the anchor of Jeddah Economic City, a 5.3 million square metre mixed-use district on the northern coast of Jeddah along the Red Sea.
Project Scope
- Mixed-use supertall tower: hotel, residential apartments, condominiums, Class A office space, and observation deck
- Approximately 157 occupied floors
- Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture — the same firm behind Burj Khalifa
- Structural system: high-strength concrete core with sloped exterior walls and a tripod plan
- Adjacent retail, residential, and commercial development across Jeddah Economic City
Current Status
As of April 2026, the tower has reached its 100th occupied floor — a major construction milestone after the project resumed in earnest in 2023 following an extended pause. The structure is now being erected on an average five-day floor cycle, supported by an on-site workforce of approximately 5,200 construction personnel. The tower is projected to top out at 135 floors by the end of 2026, with cladding and interior fit-out continuing through 2027 and 2028.
Why It Matters
Jeddah Tower is the only one of Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects that has continued to progress on schedule after a difficult few years for the broader Vision 2030 development program. Beyond the height record, the tower’s structural and constructability solutions — particularly its sloped wall pumping strategy and high-strength concrete mix design — are likely to influence supertall design globally for the next decade.
