The company traces its start to 2008, when Waris Mojaddidi’s father began buying and reworking houses in Northern Virginia. Waris joined him in 2010 after working in commercial flooring, the business was licensed in 2011, and by 2014 it was building for clients. The name is an acronym drawn from the first letters of the founder’s name and his siblings’ names, which is why the firm still describes itself as family-founded.
Kitchens are one of seven scopes WISA takes on. The others are remodeling design, whole home remodeling, home additions, bathroom remodeling, basement remodeling and ADU construction. Structural work, full system upgrades, theater basements and golf simulators all sit inside the range of projects the firm handles.
Roughly 25 to 30 installers are WISA employees rather than subcontractors, and the company says that in-house crew performs about 90 percent of the work on a given project. Waris and Daoud Mojaddidi co-founded the firm; the wider staff includes a lead designer, a design center manager, an in-house architect, a production manager and several project managers.
Work is centered on a 12,000-square-foot design center in Lorton, which grew out of the original warehouse showroom. Homeowners who cannot get to the showroom can hold design meetings over Zoom, and finish selections are brought to the house instead. A short personal video is sent before the first call so the homeowner already knows the face and voice on the other end.
The process runs in six defined steps: a discovery call, an in-home meeting, as-built drawings, a design center visit, an updated design, then final measurements and contract. Soffits are opened and existing conditions verified before that contract is written, which is what lets WISA commit to a fixed price rather than a number that drifts once demolition starts.
Every project closes with a one-year labor warranty, and permits are pulled on every scope, including the small ones. The firm holds a Virginia Class A contractor license and carries membership marks from NAHB, NARI, NKBA and NVBIA.
Coverage runs across Fairfax County, including McLean, Vienna, Springfield, Burke, Annandale and Fairfax Station, plus Alexandria, Arlington County, the City of Fairfax and Falls Church. Permits and county inspections in Fairfax are managed in house. Projects elsewhere in the DMV are considered case by case.
