Peg City Fence Pros Inc. has been installing fences in Winnipeg since 2016, starting as a single crew and expanding into one of the busier fencing outfits in Southern Manitoba. The company works across residential, commercial and agricultural jobs, and the range reflects that: wood privacy fences, chain link, welded wire, ornamental wrought iron and aluminium, pool enclosures, cattle fencing and automated gates.

Geography drives a lot of what the crew does. Beyond Winnipeg the company lists Brandon, Winkler, Steinbach, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk and Kenora as served areas, which covers most of the settled south of the province plus a stretch into northwestern Ontario. Projects range from backyards in River Heights and Tuxedo to parkades, commercial compounds and rural farm fencing.

Manitoba’s ground conditions shape the installation method. The company points to heavy clay soil and the freeze-thaw cycle as the main causes of failed posts, and sets posts a minimum of 5.5 feet deep, below the frost line, packed with three-quarter down limestone. That depth requirement is the difference between a fence that stays plumb and one that heaves out of alignment after a couple of winters. For wood, the firm uses pressure-treated lumber as the default, noting that Western Red Cedar resists warping better and lasts longer but costs roughly twice as much.

Permitting is handled in house. Winnipeg generally allows backyard fences up to 6.6 feet without a permit; anything taller, any pool enclosure, and front yard fences over four feet require one. Corner lots carry stricter sightline limits. Peg City also flags the Manitoba Line Fences Act for shared boundary work, where neighbours are expected to split the cost of a basic functional fence and the party wanting upgraded materials pays the difference. The company recommends a survey and a written fence agreement before anyone starts digging.

Estimates are free, and every full build carries a one-year workmanship warranty. Commercial work extends to chain link, welded wire and automated gate systems for warehouses, storage yards and retail properties, along with interior chain link for storage lockers and parkades. The business is locally owned and operated and reachable at (204) 232-4982.
