Environmental Waterproofing: Protecting Ottawa’s Homes, One Basement at a Time.

Environmental Waterproofing splits its work into two distinct approaches rather than treating waterproofing as a single service. Interior work addresses water that has already found its way in, using sealant application, interior drainage channels and vapour barriers to manage moisture from inside the basement. Exterior work goes after the source directly, with excavation and full membrane installation around the foundation, weeping tile placement and grading adjustments meant to keep water from reaching the foundation wall in the first place. The company’s drainage lineup also includes French drains and window well protection, alongside primary and battery-backup sump pump systems intended to keep working through a power outage.

One technique the company calls out specifically is air gap membrane technology, a method it describes as widely used in Europe, which creates a gap against the foundation wall so moisture and water vapor can migrate out rather than staying trapped against the concrete. The company positions this as a durability feature on the exterior systems it installs, and backs that work with warranties it describes as long-lasting and transferable to a new owner if the property is later sold.

Every job is said to follow the same four-step sequence regardless of scope: an inspection to find the source of the water problem, a plan built around that specific foundation, installation using the chosen materials, and a final check to confirm the system works before the crew leaves. The company’s published service-area list names dozens of specific Ottawa neighborhoods, among them the Glebe, Barrhaven, Orléans, Sandy Hill, Kanata, Stittsville, Nepean, Hunt Club, Alta Vista and Rockcliffe Park, and it says it will take on work in areas not named on that list as well.
