Our Roofs Stand the Test of Time
Imagine a small town in New York about the turn of the century. A place where horse-drawn wagons must avoid the ever-present Model T and where the modern roofing still consists of wood, slate, tile, tin or copper. That’s Baschnagel’s past and Baschnagel’s future.
Baschnagel Bros. Roofing is and has been family owned and operated through three generations of historical restoration and landmark work. We have a heritage of paying strict attention to the smallest details of our craft, from ornamental cornice steeple work to pointing.
Two credentials sit outside the usual roofing shortlist. Baschnagel Bros is a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise, and the company states plainly that it is local, family and woman owned. Its field crews are OSHA certified and scaffold certified, which matters on the steeple, cornice and multi-storey work that makes up much of the portfolio.
The awards shelf is specific: nine New York Landmark awards and a Lucy Moses Award for landmarks work. Those come out of restoration projects on churches, designated landmarks and historic residential buildings across the city.
Manufacturer certifications are named rather than implied. The company is a certified installer for GAF, including Master Elite, plus CertainTeed, Carlisle, Firestone, Ludowici, EcoStar, Englert, TAMKO, Royal Crest, Thermo-Vu Technologies and Fitlast. Manufacturer warranties are honoured and all work is guaranteed.
Training runs on an apprenticeship model. Every roofer begins as an apprentice, and supervisors who handle quality control personally average more than fifteen years on site with the firm. Salespeople come up the same route, so the person quoting a job has done the work.
Geographically the business covers Whitestone and the wider New York metropolitan area, with Queens and Long Island called out specifically. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, closed weekends. Estimates are free and the company advertises same-day estimates. Service is available in English and Spanish. American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa are accepted, and the firm belongs to the New York Chamber of Commerce.
Four service lines are published: residential roofing, commercial roofing, landmark and church roofing, and sheet metal roofing. Maintenance and repair are treated as a distinct strength rather than an afterthought, and the company keeps computer records of past work so recurring maintenance can be scheduled without a fresh survey each time.
